english lessons for students

Washington D.C. is home to a lot of great schools and universities that attract people from all over the world. I have had the opportunity to work with students on improving their academic reading and writing, English conversational skills, and critical exams for entrance into top-tier schools. Unlike traditional classes that are offered for students, my English lessons are tailored to what you are studying and what you already know.

There are many different ways that you will use English in your daily life, but academic English is unique to students. My personalized courses break away from the old classroom model by helping you develop English writing skills that will apply to your coursework.

After our work together, you will feel prepared to tackle essay writing assignments and complete advanced coursework, like thesis statements and persuasive argumentation. Through a free assessment and one-on-one coaching, you will learn how to more effectively write essays in English, including creating essay outlines, using grammar, and using an academic writing style.

Aside from creating well-written English essays, participating in class is a priority for a lot of students that I work with, especially since their grades depend on it. Not to mention, speaking up more in class allows students to ask questions and better understand their courses. If your English fluency is holding you back from participating in class, then we can work together until you feel more confident speaking up like other students.

As the minimum requirement for international students at universities across the United States, preparing to get a good score on the TOEFL is important. The exam is recognized by more than 9,000 colleges in 130 different countries, so almost any school you would like to attend. Therefore, a strong score on the TOEFL will always help. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, my TOEFL lessons take into account your existing understanding of the English language to build a curriculum that is most helpful to your success.
